YOU’RE MEDITATING MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE

13083166_10156808765695551_192063977622415423_nI suck at meditation. I’ve come to accept it and work with this perceived weakness of character. My suckiness at this particular practice might have SOMETHING to do with my 1 and 3 year old… but, well, we all make time for the things that are most important to us in life, right? So, theoretically I could make time for traditional, *buns-on-cushion* meditation.

Thing is… I believe I’m meditating whenever I’m truly in the moment!

I’m meditating while nursing.
I’m meditating while walking.
I’m meditating while dancing.
I’m meditating while meandering in my garden.
I’m meditating while I’m staring at a piece of fruit… or a flower.
I’m meditating right now while I’m writing.

All of us are meditating more than we think we are.
Sometimes I bet you find yourself meditating while you’re driving.
Try not to do that.

THERE IS AN ABUNDANCE OF MEDITATION GOING ON IN YOUR LIFE

Tap into it. Acknowledge it. Savor it.
You don’t have to “make time” for meditation if that’s not your thang.
You can build meditation into the quiet moments of your day.

5 EVERYDAY MOMENTS THAT ARE SERIOUSLY CONVENIENT FOR BUILDING A MEDITATION PRACTICE:

1. During all meals
2. While washing your hands
3. While in lines: bank, post office, grocery store
4. While walking a dog
5. While spending electronic-free “want nothing” time with kids

How do you fit meditation into your life?
Are you meditating more than you THOUGHT you were?
Give yourself a little credit!

I’m really curious about alternative forms of meditation. Sound meditations and walking mediations are my favorite types at the moment.

Practices that focus on alternative nostril breathing freak me out.

Do you meditate every day?
